The speculations are over and now we finally have the official list of nominees to the prestigious Mercury Prize 2018:

Arctic Monkeys’ sixth album, Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino, has been named among the nominees for this year’s Mercury prize. With their new nomination, Arctic Monkeys became the second most-nominated act in the Mercury’s history: the English band and PJ Harvey have both received four nominations since its inception in 1992, while Radiohead has a total of five.
Wolf Alice has also received their second Mercury nomination ever, the first one was with their album Visions Of A Life.
Also the London band Everything Everything has enlisted their second Mercury nomination for A Fever Dream.
This year’s jazz slot is fulfilled by Sons of Kemet for Your Queen is a Reptile, their first nomination.
This 2018 is full of first-time nominees like King Krule, Nadine Shah, Lily Allen, Novelist, Jorja Smith and Noel Gallagher (Oasis were nominated for Definitely and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?).
The fortunate winner of the Mercury Prize 2018 will be announced in a special ceremony at London’s Eventim Apollo on 20th September.
