Janelle Monáe has released a new song from her upcoming album, called “Dirty Computer” which is released on April 27th. After the incredible double bang of “Make Me Feel” and “Django Jane”, it is the turn of “PYNK”, a song that appears towards the middle of the album tracklist, making a seductive trio between the other two already mentioned.
“PYNK” is the second collaboration between the Janelle and Canadian pop-experimental artist Grimes, born under the name of Claire Elise Boucher. In the past, both had joined forces for “Venus Fly”, a track included on Grimes album, “Art Angels”.
The song, is explicit, as is also her tribute to the “power of the pussy”, which is pretty clear after the viewing of the video and is also referred to in her press release:
“PYNK It is a daring celebration of creation. The love for oneself The sexuality. And the power of the pussy. PYNK is the colour that unites everything since pink is the colour found in the deepest and darkest corners of humans around the world. PYNK is where the future is born”.
“PYNK” shows false pubic hair, underwear and women in all their glory, although with a photography and art director similar to Beyoncé’s latest work. The video is directed by Emma Westenberg and features the actress Tessa Thompson.
