Last year it just took me one song to fell in love with Mina Okabe’s unique and warm voice. Her debut single “I’m Done” and the chill vibe of it, along with those reminiscences from genres like jazz and soul, still are an absolute pleasure to my ears.
Now five months after that incredible debut and almost one after the release of “Like Other People”, she’s back with another gorgeously mellow track titled “Walk Away”, which irradiates an exquisite summerish atmosphere that definitely feels like a hug or that comfortable sensation of the sea breeze touching your face every time you hit the play button.
“I wrote “Walk Away” about the feeling of not knowing if the guy that I was seeing was as interested in me as I was in him. I was asking myself, if I should walk away from what we had or keep giving him chances to prove me wrong,” – Mina Okabe.
“I missed summer so much when I recorded this! So I took some of the best sunny memories I had on my phone and put them up on the computer screen to constantly remind me of the feeling I wanted. And even though the subject is pretty sad, I feel like “Walk Away” became a reflection of those pictures.” – Mina Okabe.
